It's Friday! End of the week. Somehow I look forward to weekends more nowadays than in the past. When I was in school, the arrival weekend merely meant that the next Monday is coming soon, and the week-long cycle of school all over again. Many people say that is weird thinking. *Shrugs*I guess it is, but it's my own way of reminding myself to keep things in perspective, that the weekend's here does not mean that school has completely ended. Not time to relax too much yet.
But nowadays? Hah! My life cannot get more slack than this. Then again, the routine does bite once in a while. And I try to break the routine by doing things that I want to do. Like helping out at an orchestra. Watching concerts. Hanging out with people. Go gym. Go swim. Give tuition. Learn driving. Learn guitar. Apply to universities. Read. And of course waste time on irc and icq.
Well well...on Wednesday some of my unit guys went to the Geylang Serai pasar malam for dinner. Ate the Ramadan quintessential Ramly Burger. Well seasoned double chicken patties wrapped in an omelette doused with creamy mayonnaise..it's hot but really sinful. Haha..imagine those who had double BEEF patties. It was more or less a walk-and-eat affair, much like a food adventure that I enjoy so much. Reminds me of the next one I am going to have with the canteen gang in the near future. Heh heh. There were just like a million stores lah, and we trawled through most of them! There were also honey glazed chicken wings, kuay tutu, chopstick chicken, some hotdog bun with minced meat, turkish ice cream (supposed to be stickier than usual), mee goreng, blah blah blah. We actually saw people selling soon kuay and other chinese stuff. Haha, a bit funny lah but then again that's what you would expect in a melting pot like Singapore. Plus the practical nature of Singaporeans. "Sell whatever people want to eat." I really enjoyed myself, talking cock while trekking through the endless number of stalls.
Then on my way back, dropped by Bukit Panjang for a drink with a unit friend who lives nearby too. There was a pasar malam there too, the normal kind where you will get alarm clocks, muah chee, auctions, children clothes, pirated cds and all the usual stuff. Except this one had more. It had like 3-4 durian stores, the cd selection was just powerful. Cassettes, CDs, VCDs, DVDs...everything also got! And the genres were quite varied also, even got Indonesia music. Weird.
Tomorrow's the release of the PSLE results. Hope my cousin does well. Will be dropping by my old school to look-see before I head for duty. Haha, can practise my driving a bit. Yay~ Wonder when my father's selling the car though.

Yay~ I passed my driving test today. HAh. Actually was quite disappointed when I bumped the kerb while doing the final reverse for the parallel parking..it was the first time I actually touched the kerb. And I was not really comfortable with the accelerator which was kind of 'hard', 'cos I am used to using the older cars which have 'looser' accelerators..but never mind lah, pass can liao..
I hope HX does not remember that I owe him a treat for passing this test....heh

It's almost a week since I last blogged. Still feeling the remains of the headache that has wrecked havoc in my physiology since Thursday..
Anyway this is actually quite a good week, mainly 'cos my senior discovered that we can actually use *R* in camp (albeit only on some computers). So much of Wednesday and Thursday was spent on downloading *p*...haha cannot say some more else I die..
Headache!!! Hai...people are falling ill all over. And the worse thing is my brother still has 4 papers left! Better keep the germs away from him...this is really freaking irritating. Who cares if I get sick any other time. F*CK.
Peace.
So sleepy..must be the Panadol. Hai........Today was my last tuition session 'cos Amaths paper II is coming tuesday. Hope he does well. Decided to start on my Duke application today. Decided on the online application 'cos too lazy to visit the post office so many times..and luckily I reminded Mr Chow abt the JHU form...he actually thanked me for reminding him!!!! WTF!! But nvm...quite funny actually..and I still need to remind him to write my Duke recommendation..

Yo~~~ It was indeed a loong weekend for me..and I am still at home now 'cos I'm on duty later.
Cool~ Saturday was really really fun..at least to me. Coincidentally my mum told me it was my lunar birthday - one day after my Gregorian birthday!
Morning I went swimming...quite crowded as usual but at least the sun was out, so wasn't too gloomy.
Then we had mee sua for lunch. Birthday mah. Noodles for longevity.
Then late afternoon met Yeelin and Alvin for dinner at Lau Pa Sat. It's damn expensive! I rediscovered the agony of paying so much money for feeling just a bit fuller than satiated. But luckily it was a treat from the 2 of them~ Heh. We had ngoh hiang, stingray, satay and sugarcane. Stupid thing was when we were taking photos away from out table, then the cleaner cleaned up our table, even the unfinished drinks! And she argued back when it was obvious our stuff were still on the table...hai..just told her off, had the last word and walked off feeling sad for her. But anyway we won't be eating there again any time soon for sure.
I met my grandaunt and granduncle there as well, of ALL places. Haha, they stay just a few roads from my block in Choa Chu Kang. And the funny thing was that when I spotted them from a distance, and went over to wave at them, they waved me away at first, thinking I was some touter selling satay to them...^________^ hahahaha...will never forget that.
The concert was pretty good!! Minus the minor mistakes in chords of both soloists, and discounting the minor parts when the orchestra went out of sync with the soloist...seriously speaking my seat was not that good, so I shan't comment much on the balance of the orchestra, although I suspect it's the usual problem of too weak an erhu and zhonghu section.
After the concert Yeelin and I practically rushed out of the concert hall to get the soloists' autographs. I was dumbfounded when I was before Professor Mary..just mumbled a word of congratulations. Haha, too nervous lah! Then I bought one of her CDs as a show of support, and Yeelin bought me a CD too!!! ^___________^ And she was soooo paiseh that she had to borrow money from me to buy it for me. :P~~~ Haha no lah, I'm really happy abt the thought already.
Sigh, the deadline for Johns Hopkins is coming. Hope Mr Chow didn't forget his promise. I smsed him on Sunday, and he actually thanked me for reminding him!! Goodness!!! Better remind him again on Tuesday...Anyway just heard from my friend in UC San Diego that the US rankings for the colleges are out already. For biomed (she didn't say whether it's biomedical science or biomedical engineering), the top 2 graduate schools are 1. Johns Hopkins, 2. Duke and 3. UC San Diego. Woo~! So I didn't make the wrong choices after all! Haha..applying to JHU and Duke this year..(I haven't even started on the Duke application...I am so dead). And to UC San Diego next year if JHU fails me...sigh I really hope to get into JHU now.
Anyway my friend says she's damn lonely there..and that's so sad 'cos I'll be in her shoes in 22 months. But again she is coming back in December! Yay~~ Haha...can talk cock with her in face again...apparently term is quite short at UCSD, only a ten-week semester. And there're only like 2 semesters a year!! Only study for 20 weeks a year!!! The rest is summer school and holiday and unofficial lessons..no wonder she thanked me for reminding her of her real purpose in the US - to get a degree and not to play only. Sigh, must really watch out myself. I am getting too used to slacking that I wonder if I can ever pick up steam again. Must. No choice.

WoO~~
Long time no blog...Today is my Birthday!! Was really glad to receive a card from Watson yesterday..and quite paiseh that my 'messenger' could not get his b'dae card to his place in time...long story lah.
Anyway, worked only till 12pm today...birthday off. Quite surprised to receive smses from a few pple..Shermin (who watched a video on the endoscopic removal of the gall bladder after wishing me happy b'dae), Wanyi and SQ (who seems so stressed up!! Hope she's coping) among others..
Spent pretty much of the day with my family and closer relatives. My mum picked me up after work today. Oh yah something funny happened. I was just sitting at the bus stop outside my unit, and suddenly this 1st sergeant in air force no. 3 came too. Then I was just dao-ing him (as usual like how I dao most strangers). Then he suddenly sat down beside me and said "Wah, today damn hot hor?" Uhh okay. So I played my conversational card for about 2-3 minutes lor. Anyway nothing to do, and it was reaally hot. Anyway, my parents, aunt, cousin and I headed to Bukit Timah Plaza for some pizza.
And I must add how sweet my little cousin was! She (Pri 6) was supposed to go to school today, but she took off because "it's my cousin's b'dae"....AWWWW....^____^ Hope she does well for her PSLE...results will be released on the 22nd Nov..I think I will drop by my school to see. After all haven't gone back last year 'cos of A levels! (and feeling bad abt it 'cos I've been back every single year since 1996!)
Then my bro came home from his paper today. Higher Chinese. Hai, I should get more involved with it. Feeling kinda detached from everybody else's academic pursuits ever since I enlisted..well well...
Went for a really looong run today. Must have ran at least 5km or more! But of cos rested in between lah...it's me after all.....-__- Haha..
Then went out for dinner. Simple dinner. But I liked it that way..extravagance is seldom me.
Feeling soo full now...dunno how I am going to eat tomorrow. Nvm, shall go and swim in the morning.
Anyway, yesterday my unit celebrated all the November babies' birthdays! And as usual being gourmets, the cake was pretty good. And we had like 4 pple cutting the same cake 'cos there happened to be 4 pple born in Nov. And to think I almost couldn't get my birthday off today because of some stupid standing order which states that you must submit three QUALITY suggestions or else you cannot get any long weekends, half days or off-in-lieu..damn screwed up. Made me and my section senior panic like hell on thursday...we submitted more than 15 in total I think..just in case some were rejected..haha and in the end I got like 8! Earned ard 15 bucks (theoretically 40..but then they screwed up yet again)...though I seriously doubt they will credit it into my bank account..yeah, it's cool to have someone have the same birthday as you and you know the person, and he is ur section mate some more. It makes the birthday more special to me..cos more people are happy...I know three!
Yawn, quite tired now. Hope the concert tomorrow is good!!
